Join the Water and Habitat team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC delegation is looking for a:
Water and Habitat Engineer
(Based in Manila)
Under the direction of the Water and Habitat (Wathab) Delegate and/or Coordinator, the Wathab Engineer plans, designs, and implements engineering projects particularly in detention places within the scope of the ICRC’s water and habitat assistance objectives. S/he monitors on-site works, carries out needs assessment and surveys, and plans new projects. S/he also acts as ICRC’s focal person for engineering projects.
MAIN TASKS:
• Carries out needs assessments in places of detention
• Draws up documents (drawing, bills of quantities, contracts) for engineering projects
• Monitors project implementation in line with ICRC standards and the local building code
• Contributes to the development of systemic projects in support to the detaining authorities and other relevant authorities concerned in future jail planning and design, aiming to increase the authorities’ technical knowledge and capacity
• Organizes training for end-users in the operation and maintenance of infrastructures, standards, steps in planning and design through a multidisciplinary and participatory process
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
• At least five (5) years’ professional experience in project management related to buildings, road, public, infrastructures (project proposal, design, on-site supervision, maintenance)
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering or similar
• Experience in planning and design, project management, layout reviewing
• Ease in public speaking, coaching and networking skills
• Capacity to organize and actively participate in trainings
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Tagalog
• Experience in managing 1 to 3 technical support staff
As an asset, a successful candidate may have:
• At least two (2) years’ experience in public health engineering
• Master’s degree in any engineering field
• Expertise linked to public health engineering
• Prior experience in humanitarian or development work
• International experience or exposure to international best practices for designing water structures and urban water systems and networks
• Ability to speak in other languages
