Join the communication team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for:
Communication Officer
(Based in Iligan)
The Communication Officer contributes to the design, planning, and implementation of communication projects and activities in coordination with the management in his/her duty station. S/He contributes to representing the ICRC externally and building the necessary understanding, acceptance, and support of the ICRC among key stakeholders and priority groups.
MAIN TASKS:
Contributes to define communication and possible prevention objectives, strategies, and plans of action for Iligan areas of responsibility (AoR), in line with the priorities and direction of the office and delegation
Implements relevant activities and develops tools for operational communication, community engagement, International Humanitarian Law (IHL) promotion, and other related operational priorities, with minimum supervision
Supports management and communication colleagues in networking with relevant stakeholders and represents the ICRC with various audience
Follows political, security, and humanitarian development in the areas of responsibility as well as other issues related to the ICRC's reputation/perception and capacity to operate in the areas covered, contributing to the analysis
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
University degree or equivalent in relevant field (communications, journalism, political science, international relations)
At least 3 years’ experience in communication/networking/advocacy fields
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of a broad range of communication tools and techniques with strong/established skills in delivering communication outputs
Good knowledge of the social, cultural, religious, and political environment of Central Mindanao specifically the areas under Iligan office
Fluency in spoken and written English, Tagalog, Visayan, and Maranao
A creative approach in developing communication tools and materials
Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with digital communication tools
As an asset, a successful candidate will have:
Prior working experience with international humanitarian organizations
Knowledge of IHL
Experience in an ICRC operation
Good knowledge and understanding of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte areas
