Join the protection team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for a:
Protection Field Officer
(Based in Iligan)
The Protection Field Officer contributes to the implementation and monitoring of ICRC protection activities. S/he contributes in the analysis of different aspects relevant to the ICRC and shares relevant information with team members and reports any changes in the situation.
MAIN TASKS:
Participates in the assessment and monitoring of humanitarian situation in the area as well as the general political/socio-economical/security situation
Assists in the implementation of activities linked to the protection of civilians and support to detention activities
Documents and follows up cases of missing persons related to the Marawi crisis
Contributes to the ICRC’s networking activities with various stakeholders including those from Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte
Promotes and disseminates the principles of international humanitarian law (IHL)
Liaises with other ICRC departments for organization of specific events
Coordinates with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) local chapters for joint activities
Prepares written reports on a periodic and project basis
Establishes and maintains contacts with various groups, including individual beneficiaries, humanitarian organizations and local authorities
Contributes to the formulation of objectives, plans of action, and preparation of budget
Travels regularly within the assigned areas
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
University degree or equivalent in relevant field (administration, social work, sociology)
At least 3-5 years’ experience in similar field
Good knowledge of the social, cultural, religious, and political environment of Central Mindanao
Fluent in spoken and written English, Tagalog, Visayan, and Maranao
Good organizational skills
Good analytical skills
Good communication skills
The ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining patience, perseverance, self-confidence
As an asset, a successful candidate may have:
Good interpersonal skills and a good network of contacts
Awareness and respect of professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality
Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and to travel to different areas
