Join the Communication team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for a:
COMMUNICATION OFFICER
(Based in Cotabato)
The Communication Officer contributes to the design, planning and implementation of communication projects and activities in coordination with the management. S/He contributes to representing the ICRC externally and to build the necessary understanding, acceptance, and support of the ICRC among key stakeholders.
MAIN TASKS:
· Contributes to define communication and possible prevention objectives, strategies, and plans of action for the Cotabato Office’s area of responsibility (AoR) in line with the priorities and direction of the office and delegation
· Implements relevant activities and proactively develop tools for operational communication, community engagement, International Humanitarian Law (IHL) promotion and other related operational priorities within the Cotabato office’s AoR, with minimum supervision
· Supports the management and COM colleagues in networking with relevant stakeholders; represents the ICRC to various audiences and helps develop the ICRC’s presence in the media
· Follows political, security, and humanitarian developments in the AoR as well as other issues related to the ICRC's reputation/perception and capacity to operate in the areas covered, contributing to the analysis
· Produces creative and compelling communication content (i.e. stories from the field, photographs, video clips, etc.) that best represent the work of ICRC in the Philippines
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills
· At least 3 years’ experience in communication/networking/advocacy fields
· Knowledge of a broad range of communication tools and techniques with strong/established skills in delivering communication outputs
· Good knowledge of the social, cultural, religious and political environment of Central Mindanao
· University degree or equivalent in relevant field (communications, journalism, political science, international relations)
· Fluent in spoken and written English, Tagalog, and Maguindanaon
· A creative approach in developing communication tools and providing materials
· Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with digital communication tools
As an asset, a successful candidate will have:
· Prior working experience with international humanitarian organizations
· Knowledge of IHL
· Experience in an ICRC operation
