The ICRC Delegation in Libya – temporarily located in Tunis - seeks to fill the following position:
Communication Assistant, 100% The position is based in Tunis
Our successful candidate will have a proven track record in social media and journalism work that will enable them to independently execute office tasks and projects related to the Communication department. A background in (studies or experience) social media, journalism,humanitarian would be of added value. They will have an ability to establish and maintain a network of internal and external contacts that will ensure a smooth and effective running of the department requirements. An outgoing, social, solution-oriented personality is a definite must.
Main Responsibilities: General: • Provides full support and assistance on all matters to the Communication Coordinator • In charge of drafting and sending the media mapping by identifying and assessing Libyan media vectors oeprating from Tunis and other countries and consolidate the media mappings received from the field. • Analysis and summarization of media information
Communication and Events • In charge of the environmental scanning and the production of media reports on topics of interest for the ICRC oeprations including humanitarian, political and security development in Libya. • Will handle all aspects of the ICRC Libya Facebook and Twitter accounts including drafting messages, responding to inquiries • Maintains open communication channels with all other media officers • Assists in all aspects of event planning for the communication department
Translation, Training and Reporting • Documents any media related situation with accuracy and details • Assists with providing or securing required translation sevices to communicate effectively with English and Arabic speaking colleagues and interlocutors. • Follow up on trainings organized abroad for interlocutors
Travel Flexibility to travel sometimes at short notice
Selection Requirements and Experience: • University Degree in Media or any related field • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic. • Awareness of the political, social and cultural assigned environment • Ability to produce high quality work with accuracy and attention to details • Experience in translation of documents from Arabic to English and visa-versa • Proven analytical skills • Respects diversity and enjoys working in a multi-national, multi-ethnic environment • Good time management skills, even under pressure • Good computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
