Hospital Administrator (Global Deployment)

Your role

As a Hospital Administrator, you are responsible for managing all non-clinical departments in the ICRC supported hospital. You are part of the hospital management team and you work closely and under the supervision of the Hospital Project Manager. You are managing human and financial resources, consumables & equipment related to the hospital activities. You ensure proper administrative organization within the hospital and make certain that the required resources are available and used in the best possible way as per ICRC institutional guidance and protocols. You contribute to establishing plans of action, implementing them and monitoring the results.

Main responsibilities

Finance and administration

  • Ensure accurate financial and administrative follow-up according to ICRC standards
  • Collect and analyse data to ensure proper reporting and take corrective measures when required for proper project implementation
  • Contribute to the annual project planning process
  • Ensure the compliance and respect of the ICRC administrative procedures of the hospital team

HR management

  • Lead and manages the ICRC resident hospital team in cooperation with the ICRC HR Manager
  • Be part of the the recruitment process and hire resident staff according to national labour laws and procedures
  • Produce job descriptions and appraises the resident hospital team staff

Logistic and stock management

  • Manage all hospital supplies from ordering, stock management and dispensing
  • Coordinate equipment and infrastructures functioning, including proper maintenance systems in collaboration with the relevant specialists
  • Ensure the daily delivery of quality support services

Education and experience required

  • Strongly motivated by the humanitarian world
  • Degree in Medicine, Nursing or any Health Science diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of international humanitarian field experience
  • Proven experience in hospital administration, including finance, HR and medical supply chain or pharmacy stock management
  • Experience in pharmacy management is a strong asset
  • Minimum B1 level in English
  • Fluency in another language of ICRC interest: French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and or Portuguese
  • Previous experience within the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement is an asset

  • Able to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in a complex environment
  • Good communication skills, creative thinking, flexibility and negotiation capabilities
  • Change management skills to promote and ensure safe practices and working environment
  • Positive, flexible and able to adapt to challenging living conditions and/or unstable security environment

Our operational context

  • In line with the principle of neutrality, the ICRC dœs not assign personnel to a country of which they are nationals
  • Our field staff members must be in good health and will have to do a medical check-up prior to departure in the field
  • Our field staff members are prepared to accept unaccompanied postings (i.e. no spouse, partner, children or dependents) for at least the first 24 months
  • In line with our security guidelines, our staff members must hold a manual driving license
