Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Works closely with Movement partners to deliver income for shared benefit, seeking to understand their resource mobilization interests and developing mutually-beneficial collaborations with private sector audiences in Asia-Pacific.
- Supported by the Private Sector Engagement teams in Asia Pacific and Geneva, relevant Country Managers and field delegations, develops and implements the outreach strategy for engaging with foundations and corporates in Asia-Pacific, in collaboration with Movement partners, in accordance with REM Division institutional objectives and targets, pursuing a digital-first approach where appropriate.
- Supports the development of and monitoring against annual plans, including pipelines and revenue, to ensure targets are met.
- Leads (for ICRC) on the research and engagement of philanthropic organizations in Asia-Pacific and ensures a dynamic pipeline is in place and regularly assessed and updated.
- Advises on and builds stewardship plans to ensure relationships are leveraged to their full potential, that supporters’ requirements are fulfilled, and they will remain engaged with the Movement in the long term.
- Contributes to producing content for supporters with the Fundraising Content and Publications Officer, and provides a customized service according to interest, needs and potential of each supporter.
- Monitors and reports on evolving interests and trends to inform ICRC fundraising strategy and offering.
- Supports and contributes to the negotiation of funding agreements and ensures the necessary follow-up.
- Maximises visibility by exploring opportunities arising from the interaction with the community of supporters in Asia Pacific and making recommendations to the REM management.
- Engages with the wider regional ecosystem of infrastructure organizations and explores developments in new philanthropy and impact-based giving, whilst maintaining the ICRC’s and the Movement’s relevance to traditional philanthropists.
Professional Experience required
- Ideally 10 to 12 years’ professional experience (i.e. Relationship Management, humanitarian action)
- Minimum 5 years’ successful experience in planning for (strategy), securing and renewing five- to seven-figure major gifts from foundations and / or corporations, ideally in Asia-Pacific.
- Strong financial acumen, monitoring, analytical and reporting skills.
- In-depth, applicable understanding of philanthropic fundraising techniques and how to reconcile the needs of the organization with those of supporters.
- Good understanding of current humanitarian issues and priorities.
- Collaborative, characterized by thoughtful action and decision-making, empathy, discretion and tact.
- Excellent communication skills with good interpersonal and negotiation skills; well-able to explain complex issues to others and present the organization in an engaging and concise manner.
- Experience in producing quality content for high value audiences.
- Relevant existing professional and personal networks across Asia-Pacific.
- Experience in leading teams and staff management.
