The Physical Rehabilitation Project Field Officer (PRP-FO) contributes to implementing, running, and monitoring the physical rehabilitation project activities, in accordance to agreed objectives and related strategies in Davao area of responsibility (AoR) and Mindanao, particularly in relation to improved quality and capacity of physical rehabilitation service provision, e.g. prosthetics, orthotics, wheelchair service provision, managerial capacity building and networking with relevant actors. As a member of the multidisciplinary physical rehabilitation team to ensure patient-center care, s/he contributes to the implementation of internal and international physical rehabilitation standards, overall service provision standards, and monitors the quality of the services provided in collaboration and close coordination with project partners. S/he may actively contribute to providing services to more complicated/complex cases.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and follows-up physical rehabilitation activities/programmes within Davao AoR and Mindanao.
  • Assists the PRP Manager, and other departments (e.g. MHPSS, WahtHab, Ecosec, if needed), in designing operational strategies and planning the physical rehabilitation activities and interventions at the local level.
  • Promotes best practices in coordination with the Physical Rehabilitation team and is actively involved in the delivery of services to complicated/complex cases. Collaborates and liaises with all members of the rehabilitation team to ensure a multidisciplinary team approach.
  • Mentors technical and clinical staff involved in the provision of physical rehabilitation services within assisted physical rehabilitation center/s, the embedding of freshly graduated students, supports center managers and the head of the department in the implementation of guidelines and standards.
  • Conducts assessments and field visits (when relevant) to monitor activities and challenges in the population, particularly PwD, to access and benefit for physical rehabilitation service provision.
  • Reports on physical rehabilitation context, needs, and programs at the internal and external levels. Ensures proper management of information collected, and appropriate, relevant reporting.
  • Participates in analysis of and reflection on the overall environment and situation; contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation's objectives and priorities.**
  • Helps organize meetings; advises staff members on various matters such as culture, politics, economy, security, etc.
  • Interprets at meetings and translates documents into local languages when needed.
  • Liaises and builds networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on, and in the coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of physical rehabilitation projects. Represents the ICRC vis-à-vis local authorities.

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • Degree in relevant field, or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in the field of physical rehabilitation (physiotherapy, prosthetics and orthotics, with a wide scope of practice).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Skills for planning, organization, assessment, and program implementation
  • Any additional ISPO qualification; certified PT specialization courses and degrees in the health field are an added value
  • Experience with INGO or the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
  • Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and with autonomy in a multidisciplinary approach.
