The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer (MHPSS FO) contributes to the overall implementation of the ICRC MHPSS programs in Mindanao within a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the MHPSS Delegate, in coordination with the health, protection, and other departments of the ICRC.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures proper MHPSS evaluation/analysis of the field situation (e.g. health centers, communities, etc.), and determines the MHPSS needs of the target population
• Contributes to the prioritization of planning and running of MHPSS interventions in Cotabato Sub-Delegation Areas of Responsibilities’ (AoR) programs and activities for the specific ICRC target population and areas of operation
• Ensures proper follow-up of the MHPSS activities in ICRC-assisted health facilities and communities
• Contributes to internal reporting and documentation as required, under the supervision of the ICRC MHPSS Delegate
• Works in the field for long periods and moves across Mindanao, as necessary
• Contributes to report writing and documentation concerning MHPSS programs/activities as required, under supervision of the ICRC MHPSS Delegate
• Collects, organizes, and participates in the analysis of all data related to the MHPSS activities in the respective AoR, together with the MHPSS delegate
• Assists and eventually takes care of the preparation and implementation of training sessions
• Provides direct specialized mental health service and psychosocial support to beneficiaries (individual, family, community level) if needed with support from MHPSS Delegate
• Conducts capacity building activities directly for the beneficiaries with support from the MHPSS Delegate
• Maintains regular contact with all interlocutors, especially with the health authorities, at various levels and keeps informed about the security situation
REQUIRED PROFILE
A successful candidate will have:
• University degree in Psychology
• Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in psychosocial support or related field
• Extensive knowledge of local MHPSS services and other health and social services, staff, and system
• Skills for MHPSS capacity building and training delivery, as well as skills to support and assist MHPSS service delivery when needed
• Experience in working with the administration of MHPSS and/or medical structures in the Philippines
• Excellent communication skills in English and Filipino
• Computer Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Comprehensive and accurate analytical skills
• Skills for planning, organization, assessment, and program implementation
• High level of communication, negotiation, and social skills
• Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and with autonomy in a multidisciplinary approach
• Ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining patience, perseverance, and self-confidence
• Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and frequently travel to different areas in Cotabato Sub-Delegation AoR and other areas of Mindanao.
• Cultural and geographical knowledge of Mindanao areas
• Awareness and respect for professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality
As an asset, a successful candidate may have:
• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology
• Fluency in written and spoken local language (Maguindanao, Maranao,)
• Methodical manner of working
• Proactivity, with sense of responsibility, self-awareness, and leadership skills
• Ability and willingness to perform systematically incorporated self-care actions in day-to-day activities
• Experience in working with the administration of MHPSS and/or medical structures in the Philippines
