Switzerland: Traineeship in Technical Procurement

Purpose

The associate will be in charge of improving and developing the technical specifications and classification of water fittings, vavles, pumps and electrical items. This should ease requests from the engineers in the field and guarantee fast processing without errors for procurement.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Categorization: Based on procurement statics, define the main categories for each families and summarize it to have an overview of the codification strategy and necessary number of items.
  
• Sourcing: Find reference suppliers for the different categories of items and collect catalogues and price list.
  

• Specification Sheet : Based on the catalogues develop item specification sheet with the following content:

  1. General description to explain to a none specialist what is the item for with a picture
  2. Specifications: main functional specification, technical specification to be given by the requester with a short explanation and available options, technical specification to be given by the supplier on which evaluation of the item can be done.
  3. Main norms and standard for the items (to be purchased if necessary)
  4. Codification : proposed codification for the item and a short and long description
  5. Procurement strategy according to the availability, complexity and risks
  6. Main suppliers: list of proposed suppliers with catalogues and if possible price list
  7. Price estimation: how can the price be estimate, if it is indexed on a row material
  8. Contractual specifications: what to put in a purchase / service contract
  9. Relevant additional information such as storage
  10. References: list of the other main reference documents for this item such as installation guide
      

• Item code list : Create Excel file with all wanted item codes with weight, estimated prices, codes, long and short description

Certifications / Education required

• University Master’s degree in civil or electromechanical engineering
• Maximum one-year work experience (2 years if it is supplemented with traineeships)
• Good command of English and knowledge in French and another language (Spanish, Arabic, German), a plus.
• Computer proficiency including good knowledge of Excel and good skills in presentations.
