Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
In the framework of supporting the digital transformation efforts at the ICRC and existing data science activities, the Trends, Reputation, Analysis and Knowledge Unit (TRAK) is recruiting an associate for a one year period. The associate will support the TRAK data science team with its community management and communication activities.
Under the supervision and guidance of the head of the data science team, the post holder will:
- Support with community management and communication activities, online and offline
- Support the organization of community events and talks
- Create original content by writing blog posts, announcements, newsletters, illustrations, visualizations and presentations
Certifications / Education required
University degree in information and communication science, international relations, marketing, computer science, graphic design or any other relevant field.
Desired profile and skills
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
- Creative, open-minded and pro-active
- Good written and oral communication skills (English and French)
- Ability to create visually clear content, combining text with data and illustrations
- Strong Interest in and good understanding of data science and its social impact
- Critical thinker with a thorough understanding of data protection and ethical implications of data science
- Ability to translate highly technical subject matters into content for a wider public
- Ability to work autonomously and in teams
- Experience with event organization
- Good networking skills and ability to understand business needs
- User-centric approach
- Basic knowledge of common data science tools and languages (Python and R) is an asset
- Graphic design skills, cross-media production and experience with data storytelling are an asset
- Knowledge of the humanitarian and/or international relations field is an asset
Language
French & English required (minimum of B2 level)
