Purpose of the position
The Nutritionist is the focal point for global policies, guidelines and training modules for the ICRC's nutrition programmes globally. The ICRC Nutritionist is responsible for advising and supporting Economic Security teams to develop nutrition-sensitive approaches in their programs, integrated into the various stages of the project cycle. They also work closely with health and detention colleagues to provide relevant expertise and support for treatment and prevention of malnutrition among under-5s, pregnant and lactating women, hospitalised patients and detainees.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the global coherence of nutrition interventions in the ICRC.
- In charge of developing global guidelines and protocols in relation to ICRC nutrition programmes.
- Designs and delivers nutrition-programme workshops and training modules in coordination with relevant colleagues and Units.
- Coordinates and supports the global ICRC network of nutritionists.
- Carries out short-term support assignments to ICRC delegations to provide expert nutrtion advise in case of need.
- Supports in the management of the ICRC nutritionist pool of staff.
- Represents the ICRC to partners, organizations and in forums whose work relates to nutrition.
- Ensures the ICRC remains informed of global and regional trends in nutrition programming.
Education required
- Masters degree in Nutrition or Public Health, or equivalent work experience.
- Very good command of English and French.
- Computer proficiency.
Professional Experience required
- 12-15 years´ overall professional experience.
- 5-7 years' experience in a similar field, ICRC experience an asset.
Desired profile and skills
- Experience in Coordination of global nutrition programs at HQ level.
- Experience working in health, food security or nutrition programs at field level.
- Remote programme support skills.
- Experience in food quality an asset.
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Multicultural work experience.
- Good knowledge of the ICRC´s structure is an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good organizational, managerial, planning, reporting skills.
- Ability to take relevant decisions within a given framework.
- Open-minded and adaptable, empathic and diplomatic.
