The ICRC regional delegation in Bangkok provides assistance to victims of violence and works with authorities in order to improve the conditions in detention facilities. It also endeavours to promote and to strengthen humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
We are looking for
Protection Intern, based in the Regional Delegation in Bangkok
(October-December 2019) 1 position
The Internship program is open for university students who are interested in international law and standards related to treatment of prisoners and migrants and would like to experience working in an international organization. The internship is available at the ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok between October and December 2019. The intern may be requested to conduct a legal research on a subject mutually agreed upon, assist in organizing regional seminars, provide assistance in various activities of the Protection Department and support operations of the Regional Delegation.
Main responsibilities
- To support the RFL/Migration officer with the RFL and Migration files;
- To conduct a research related to the detention file;
- To assist the daily work of the department;
- To support operations of the Regional Delegation when required;
- Other tasks which may be assigned by the supervisor.
Education and experience
- An eligible candidate should be a student who is enrolled in a law, political science or other related degree programs:
- Who has some experience in conducting researches;
- Preference is given to a candidate who has taken courses on human rights, humanitarian law, international relations and migration issues.
Profile
- Good command of English and Thai;
- Interested in and passionate about human rights and humanitarian issues;
- Good analytical skills, active, easy-going, and eager to learn.
