Join the Health team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for a:

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer

(Based in Davao)

The Mental Health Psychosocial Support Field Officer (MHPSS FO) provides support to the MHPSS Delegate in a continued manner, as well as add to the personal and professional skills needed, to contribute to the planning, implementation and reporting in relation to the MHPSS activities of the ICRC in Philippines. The MHPSS FO must perform his/her job, under the supervision of the MHPSS Delegate, using the attitudes required for MHPSS services and to perform in teamwork in multidisciplinary approach, being able to analyze the socio-economic, cultural and political situation of the covered area and its humanitarian consequences, as well as to provide guidance on cultural appropriateness and to work in networking with the stakeholders and authorities in order to facilitate the implementation of the MHPSS programs.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Ensures proper MHPSS needs assessment/analysis of the field situation (e.g. health centres, communities, etc.) and determines the MHPSS needs of the target population

  • Contributes to the prioritization, planning and execution of MHPSS interventions (programs, activities) for the specific ICRC target population and areas of operation; especially emergency responses

  • Ensures the proper monitoring and follow-up of the MHPSS activities in ICRC-assisted health facilities and communities

  • Contributes to internal reporting and documentation, as required, under the supervision of the ICRC MHPSS Delegate

  • Contributes to material management in the MHPSS projects, reception, organization and delivery to the beneficiaries/health facilities/communities or other potential partners

  • Is able to work in the field for long periods and to move across Mindanao, as necessary

  • Maintains regular contact with all interlocutors, and stays informed regarding the security situation

  • Does internal reporting about field visits and analysis of the population's MHPSS situation

  • Assists and eventually handles preparation and implementation of training sessions

  • Provides mental health or psychosocial support directly to beneficiaries, exceptionally, only when decided by MHPSS Delegate

  • Collects, organizes and participates in the analysis, together with the MHPSS delegate of all data related to the MHPSS activities in Mindanao. Moreover, contributes to the annual planning (PfR) and budget follow up

  • Implements the MHPSS strategy for Mindanao, developed and approved by the delegation of the ICRC in Philippines

REQUIRED PROFILE:

A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in MHPSS field

  • Extensive knowledge of local MHPSS services and other health services, staff and system

  • Related skills needed for MHPSS service delivery

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local language(s)

  • Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of computer programs (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Comprehensive and accurate analytical skills

  • Planning, organization, assessment, and program implementation skills

  • High level of communication, negotiation, and social skills

  • Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and with autonomy

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining patience, perseverance, and self-confidence

  • Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and to travel to different areas

  • Cultural and geographical knowledge of areas in Mindanao

  • Ability to perform in a multidisciplinary approach

  • Good teamwork collaboration skills

  • Methodical approach to work

  • Proactivity, with sense of responsibility, self-awareness, and leadership skills

  • Ability and willingness to perform systematically incorporated self-care actions in day to day activities

A successful candidate may have:

  • Experience in working with the administration of MHPSS, medical and/or DSWD structures in the Philippines

  • Awareness and respect of professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality
