Join the International Humanitarian Law team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Manila delegation is looking for a:
Legal Officer
Based in Makati
The Legal Officer provides support to the delegation on IHL and national legal matters. S/he performs basic research and reports on relevant legal national development. S/he also disseminates IHL at basic and intermediate levels, and develops and maintains networks.
MAIN TASKS:
- Coordinates ICRC activities related to academic/student formation in the ICRC delegation in the Philippines
- Promotes and supports integration of IHL into curricula of universities
- Develops and supervises the implementation of programs to foster a better understanding and teaching of IHL at universities
- Supports the ICRC’s programs aimed at the implementation of IHL at the national level
- Provides support to the Legal Adviser in monitoring and ensuring the passage of IHL-related bills pending in Congress
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law or Juris Doctor degree
- Admission to the Bar
- Good knowledge of IHL and of national legislation
- At least 2 years’ work experience in a similar field
- Fluency in spoken and written English and national language
- Good research and drafting skills
