Join the Protection team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC delegation is looking for:
Restoring Family Links (RFL) / Forensic Field Officer
(Based in Makati)
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Protection Coordinator and the Forensic Specialist in respective area of responsibility, and in coordination with other colleagues, the RFL Field Officer contributes to the implementation and development of protection activities, particularly the activities related to re-establishment of family links, tracing, and in support to the management of the dead in the Philippines.
MAIN TASKS:
Ensures development of the tracing / restoring family links (RFL) file through close coordination with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and a regular analysis of the humanitarian situation and RFL needs
Implements ICRC’s RFL program and supports the PRC in developing its RFL activities in line with respective roles and responsibilities of the components of the movement
Supports the Forensic Specialist on the implementation of ICRC Forensic programs; helps to manage forensic material and tools required for program implementation, under the supervision of the Forensic Specialist
Assists the Forensic Specialist with scheduling of meetings, organization of field trips, and internal administrative process
Provides support to the training courses provided by the ICRC to the PRC and the Philippine authorities involved in RFL and the management of the dead (MotD), under the supervision of the Deputy Protection Coordinator and the Forensic Specialist
Maintains contact with the PRC representatives involved in RFL and MotD activities and with the relevant authorities at his/her level of responsibility, identifies issues of interest / concern and reports to the Deputy Protection Coordinator and Forensic Specialist for guidance on follow-up
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with stakeholders in the Philippines (e.g. NGOs, authorities, PRC)
Develops and maintains a positive working atmosphere and contributes to an optimal team environment
Ensures the development and dissemination of relevant communication tools in coordination with the Communication department
Processes and handles general information and individual data accurately, confidentially, and in accordance with ICRC data protection rules and guidelines
Contributes to general and internal reporting for the Protection department and to programmatic follow up under RFL/Missing objectives, and prepares internal reports on visits and field trips
Contributes to the analysis of security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the ICRC and shares relevant information with colleagues
Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on ICRC's activities and, hence, provides sound elements to the Delegation that allow to establish objectives and priorities
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in social studies, international relations, or related field
3 years minimum work experience as a social worker or in the same or related capacity
Very good written/spoken English
Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
Good analytical skills
Good communication skills
Good computer skills
As an asset, the successful candidate will have:
- Related experience in restoring family links and / or management of the dead and missing
