TRAINER – MOGADISHU (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

About the Job

The ICRC Human Resources (HR) Department is looking for a Trainer (National/Resident position) to be based in its Mogadishu office. In close coordination with the Performance Management & Development Specialist, the Trainer will mainly be responsible for facilitating in-house staff training courses in Somalia, both independently and in cooperation with other Learning and Development (LnD) trainers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and delivers training courses on a wide scope covering staff induction, team management and leadership, communication, and other relevant topics;

  • Training and support of trainers and training relays;

  • Ensures proper planning, budgeting and scheduling of training courses;

  • Engages in participant follow up before and after in person training sessions;

  • Develops course content in accordance with learning and development module designs;

  • In collaboration with departmental heads, conducts Learning Needs Analysis;

  • Produces high quality reports for courses which he/she facilitated or co-facilitated;

  • Ensures tracking of training attendance and contributes to training transfer evaluation.

About you

You should possess the following qualifications, skills, experiences and have the following competencies:

  • University degree in Communication, Acting/Drama, Education, Journalism, Psychology, or relevant fields;

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience;

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Somali languages,

  • Excellent public speaking skills and presentation skills;

  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills;

  • Experience in team leadership and management;

  • Strong intercultural skills and openness to diversity;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (especially PowerPoint and Ms Word);

  • Ability to manage diverse groups in an efficient and friendly manner;

  • Highly motivated individual with the desire to make a difference;

  • Available for frequent travel in Somalia, including irregular working hours;

  • Good knowledge of the political, social and cultural context of Somalia.
