Join the Water and Habitat team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC delegation is looking for a:
Geographic Information System Officer
(Based in Makati)
The Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer will produce all standard and ad-hoc maps required by the delegation management. S/he will collect, analyze, store, and display all relevant geographic information available inside or outside the delegation, including satellite imagery, and produce appropriate mapping products.
MAIN TASKS:
Provides GIS support to other departments as needed by the delegation; may provide GIS support to other Delegations within the Region and to National Societies
Produces maps to help meet the delegation's operational and reporting objectives in line with the ICRC's GIS guidelines
Organizes and maintains the geo-database and maintains the delegation's Synergy Geographic Referential
Files and stores geo-data and metadata in observance of the ICRC's GIS guidelines
Networks with external actors to improve the quality of geo-data and extend its coverage.
Supports the delegation’s public communication with production of infographics and dynamic web-maps
Assists the programme coordinator in quarterly statistical reports compilation, and supports the Water and Habitat Assistant in Wathab Project Assistant (WPA) application monitoring and follow up.
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
At least two years professional experience in a related field
University degree in geodetic engineering, geography, or equivalent
Excellent command of spoken and written English
A strong commitment to the humanitarian mandate of the ICRC and willingness to work in and adjust to difficult contexts
Ability to analyze situations and continued initiative to propose appropriate and innovative solutions
Knowledge of commercial and/or open-sourced GIS software
Excellent cartography and data management skills
A successful candidate may have:
Prior experience in humanitarian or development work
International experience or exposure to international best practices related to GIS
