WATER & HABITAT DRILLING SUPERVISOR - GAROWE

About the Job

The ICRC Water & Habitat (WatHab) Department is looking for a WatHab Drilling Supervisor to be based in Garowe. He/she will be responsible for planning, designing and implementing engineering projects. He/she will also of monitor on-site works, carry out needs assessments and surveys and plan new projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Supervises contractors and on-site work for and conducts quality control during the design and construction of infrastructure implemented by the ICRC;

· Manages projects independently and supervises borehole drilling projects;

· Assists the Program Manager in identifying, assessing, planning and implementing water projects and monitors the impact of these projects in the AoR (Area of Responsibility);

· Organizes training for end-users in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure installed by the ICRC;

· Prepares the necessary implementation, progress and completion reports for projects under his/her AoR;

· Networks with stakeholders, monitors security issues related to project sites and provides regular information to supervisors on security, stakeholder issues and site progress;

· Creates and maintains contacts with relevant interlocutors including, the Somalia Red Crescent Society (SRCS), Government, Water Authorities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Communities (where appropriate).

About you

Interested? You should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following competencies:

This is a National/Resident position based in Somalia.

· Bachelor’s Degree geology, hydrogeology, hydraulic engineering or relevant qualification in a related field;

· At least 2 years’ experience in a similar field of activity, experience working with an international NGO an asset;

· Proficiency in drawing software - AutoCAD or other software in the area of the hydraulic engineering;

· Good knowledge of water and sanitation or construction engineering;

· Experience in managing technical support staff;

· Detail-oriented, highly organised and practices strict adherence to timelines;

· Very good analytical and negotiation skills;

· Excellent command of the English and Somali languages;

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite;

· Good knowledge of the social, economic and political affairs of the assigned region;

· Possessing a strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
