The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a neutral and independent humanitarian organization, has a vacancy at its Mission in Athens for a resident position**:**
PROTECTION FIELD OFFICER (PFO) (M/F)
As part of the protection team, the PFO contributes to the definition and implementation of the activities of the ICRC Mission in Greece in relation with the Protection of vulnerable migrants in detention or living in other reception and identification facilities on the mainland and on the islands. In line with the strategy and the guidelines followed by the ICRC Mission in Greece:
S/he contributes to the implementation of the detention activities in Greece (70%) and to the implementation of the Protection of Civilian Population (PCP) for migrant activities in Greece (30%);
S/he carries out detention visits in different locations in Greece with the team; Follows up on the detention visits, in particular with regards to distribution of assistance, follow up of individual cases.;
S/he contributes to the monitoring and analysis of the humanitarian situation affecting migrants and in particular affecting migrants in detention in Greece (including policy and legal changes);
S/he facilitates and maintains contact with relevant partners and authorities;
S/he sets up and participates in meetings organized on detention or protection issues with relevant actors and authorities;
S/he carries out verbal and written translations (Greek-English);
S/he contributes to internal and external detention reports activities (Internal note of visit, working papers, and strategic papers).
Ideal profile
University degree or professional diploma (preferably social science, migration studies, other relevant)
3-5 years of experience in the field of migration, detention, protection
Knowledge of the Greek humanitarian and protection context
Very good knowledge of written and spoken Greek and English. Knowledge of Arabic or Farsi is an asset
Professional translation capacity (English-Greek, Greek-English) is considered an asset
Very good computer skills
Good analytical and leadership skills
Available for frequent travels in Greece (islands and mainland)
