Join the Health team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for a:
Medical Field Officer
(Based in Davao)
The Medical Field Officer contributes to the overall implementation of the ICRC Health Program in Mindanao within a multidisciplinary team in coordination with the Health delegate and supervises the activities of five Medical Field Officers. He/she will build and expand his/her network with relevant interlocutors: Health Authorities at Regional, Provincial and local level, Philippine Red Cross, and other NGOs. The Medical Field Officer also participates in the analysis of the context focusing on access to health and medical care of the civilian population.
MAIN TASKS:
* Assumes major responsibilities for the implementation and running of the health program in Mindanao
* Supervises five Medical Field Officers (MFOs) and participates in their performance appraisals
* Assesses the health needs of the civilian population (residents and displaced) in conflict affected areas
* Maintains regular contact with relevant interlocutors including Health authorities and Red Cross staff at various levels
* Implements the health strategy in Mindanao in cooperation with the Health delegate focusing on weapon wounded, hospital support, first aid, people with disabilities and health care in danger
* Contributes to the implementation and follow up of Health care during detention visits
* Provides written reports in relation to the implementation of the Health program
* Collects, organizes, and participates in the analysis of all data related to the health activities in Mindanao together with the Health delegate (HD)
* Executes administrative and office work related to the health program
* Contributes to the annual planning exercise for health and budget follow up
REQUIRED PROFILE:
A successful candidate will have:
* A valid nursing diploma, university degree or equivalent in health sector (Medical Doctor, Physiotherapist, Psychologist)
* 5 to 6 years work experience in health or a similar field of activity
* Previous experience as Medical Field Officer in the Philippines
* Good knowledge of public health, local health services, staff and system
* Fluency in written and spoken English, Tagalog and Visaya; Maranaon, Maranao and Tausug as an asset.
* Good computer skills
* A disposition of a methodical person with very good analytical skills
* Team leadership skills
* A sense of responsibility and have organizational skills
* The ability to take initiative and work both in a team and independently
* Good communication skills
* The ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining patience, perseverance, self-confidence
A successful candidate may have:
* Experience in working with the administration of health and medical structures in the Philippines
* The ability to lead a team
* Good interpersonal skills and a good network of contacts
* Awareness and respect of professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality
* Flexibility to work several weeks in the field and to travel to different areas
