The Restoring Family Links (RFL) Field Officer participates actively in the implementation of programmes and activities falling under the scope of RFL, which includes the preparatory work for the accompaniment program, the consolidation of the list of missing persons and support to the national Red Cross Society. The position will be based in Colombo with frequent travel to the Central and southern part of the country.
Main responsibilities:
Contacts and interfaces with ICRC’s beneficiaries, which includes field and home visits
Plans and organises field trips
Disseminates about ICRC’s activities when relevant
Assists the line manager in implementation of related activities;
Performs internal and external follow up of individual cases under the supervision of the line manager
Receives visitors and ensures adequate follow up
Ensures filing, archiving of files according to the procedures
Translates/interprets upon request, contributes to reporting and statistical data
Supports / participates to Reestablishment of Family Links field mission administrative follow up
Education and Professional Experience required
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Sinhala, good knowledge of Tamil is an asset
Computer skills
Three years’ experience as a social worker or in any similar field
G.C.E. Advanced level
