Functional responsibilities
- Is directly in charge of restoring family links activities and acts as a liaison to the Iranian Red Crescent Society and other humanitarian actors
- Monitors the activities and provides technical support to staff involved in protection activities, in particular for restoring family links
- Provides analysis of restoring family links needs to propose strategies and to develop or ensure development of appropriate tools to address them
- Participates to overall analysis on humanitarian trends related to migration and other protection issues
- Supervises and/or contributes to the collection of protection related information
- Identifies the need for written or oral representations to selected interlocutors at national level
- Analyses and makes periodical synthesis of all relevant information pertinent to protection related objectives & activities
- Establishes and/or reviews guidelines and working tools related to protection activities in particular with relation to restoring family links
- Represents the protection department in internal and external meetings (workshops, working groups, etc.)
- Ensures a multidisciplinary approach with other ICRC departments to address the protection related objectives and activities
- Directly or indirectly manages and trains ICRC staff involved in restoring family links and other protection activities at the delegation, in accordance with the tasks division between her/him and the Protection Coordinator, and contributes to evaluate performance and competencies of the staff under her/his responsibility
- Assists and supports and, in his/her absence, replaces the Protection Coordinator and hence ensures consistency with set objectives
Minimum required knowledge, experience & skills
- University degree
- 4 - 6 years of experience in similar fields, preferably already in protection (e.g. migration, restoring family links, search for missing persons, management of the dead, etc.)
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Farsi, knowledge of Arabic is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills
- Staff management experience
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Ability to anticipate and plan, and to meet deadlines; well-structured and organized, autonomous, flexible, showing initiative; good team player
- Knowledge of humanitarian affairs, and working experience with an international organization is an asset
It should be noted that the position might require travelling (on mission) outside and inside the country.
