Lebanon: Project Coordinator for "Ideas Box" (Lebanese Nationals Only)

The ICRC's main delegation in Lebanon is based in Beirut and has three sub-delegations in Tripoli, Tyr, and Zahle. The Ideas Box project Coordinator position will be based in Ein El Helweh (EEH) Palestinian camp under the TYR Sub Delegation's area of responsibility.

Developed by Libraries Without Borders (LWB), the Ideas Box is a cultural center in a kit for children and adults that is equipped with electronic and paper books, games, tablets loaded with multimedia content, and a portable cinema. Standardized, easily transported, rapidly deployed, easy to use, and durable, the Ideas Box is a major innovation in the access to culture and information to marginalized populations.

The project has three objectives:

• A psychosocial objective: to respond to the socio-cultural divides, alleviate the ennui and reinforce the resilience of populations.**• An informational objective:** to re-establish means of communication and limit the spread of misinformation. • A socio-educational objective: to aid in the re-education of children and provide a complement to their educational activities, to help establish a routine and promote a return to normality.

Within the framework of its activities in Ein El Helweh(EEH), the ICRC has identified the Ideas Box as a means to respond to needs expressed by the community. The ICRC will run the Ideas Box until it is handed over to the community within a period of 9 till 12 months.

PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

The ICRC has identified Alwan Cultural Center in Ein El Helweh as its partner for the implementation of the Ideas Box project. Under the direct supervision of the Field delegate, the ICRC Ideas Box Coordinator will be responsible for the overall implementation of the Ideas Box project in Alwan Cultural Center and the overall coordination and reporting between ICRC, Alwan center and Libraries Without Border (LWB), until handover to the community center. The post is open for Lebanese ONLY.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Adequate professional diploma in cultural/educational outreach and/or specialized in sociology.
  • 3-5 years professional experience working with community projects or mobilizing communities.
  • Project management, team management.
  • Training experience.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Interest in content curation, digital and innovative technologies promoting access to information, culture, and education
  • Proficient use of computer applications and the web
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Good reporting skills
  • Excellent knowledge of geographically assigned environment
  • Autonomy, reactivity, and adaptability.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management and Maintenance of the Ideas Box
  • Human Resources, including training and coaching of Alwan's staff/facilitators
  • Educational, Cultural and Recreational Content Identification,
  • Planning, Coordination, and Reporting of Activities
  • Administrative and logistical management of the Ideas Box
