It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC's Somalia Delegation in Nairobi implements the institution's humanitarian activities in Somalia.
ECONOMIC SECURITY FIELD OFFICER - HIRAAN
The Economic Security Field Officer (EcoSec FO) - a Somalia-based resident/national position, is responsible for the overall management of EcoSec activities and resources in the Hiraan and Belet Weyne regions. He/She analyses the economic security situation, conducts needs assessments and plans EcoSec interventions in consultation with the respective field management, technical supervisor and EcoSec team in Nairobi. He/she will be based in Belet Weyne with expected frequent travel to his/her Area of Responsibility (AoR). He/she will perform the following duties:
Main Responsibilities:
· Ensures regular monitoring of the Economic/food Security situation in the assigned regions
· Plans, implements and monitors the EcoSec Programme in the assigned regions according the institutional procedures and objectives
· Conducts assessment missions, writes assessment reports and project proposals
· Reports on the progress of the programme and its outcomes against the set objectives
· Manages the respective teams of the Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) that are involved in the implementation of the EcoSec emergency and livelihood interventions
· Establishes and maintains contacts with the relevant stakeholders at community, district and regional levels
· Contributes to the annual planning exercise of the EcoSec department for the assigned regions
Minimum required knowledge & experience:
· University degree in Agriculture, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, Animal Production, Veterinary Science or related fields
· 5 years’ work experience in a similar field
· Team leadership skills
· Very good analytical and communication skills
· Fluent in written and spoken English
· Good knowledge of geographically assigned areas
