Purpose of the post
The Psychologist will implement Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the relevant coordinator at the local and national levels. They deliver direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or train, supervise and coach others to do so.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Implement MHPSS activities in line with a defined action plan and under the technical supervision of the MHPSS Delegate:
- Participate in setting psychological and psychosocial procedures and/or provide advice on the technical orientation of a project.
- Evaluate the needs of beneficiaries and/or contribute to the design of evaluation tools.
- Capacity building of diverse groups – mental health and psychosocial professionals, National Society volunteers, social workers, education sector professionals, etc.
- Implement the ‘Helping the Helpers’ program, directly or in partnership with local actors for the benefit of different groups such as teachers, social workers, and health workers, among others.
- Conduct assessments and elaborate reports prior to starting any MHPSS Program.
- Coordinate seminars/workshops and related activities for mental health specialists.
- Follow-up and monitor mentioned activities.
- Maintain regular contact with other partners involved in the MHPSS activities (networking) and make appropriate referrals to those services if necessary.
- Assess continuously the evolution of the situation and possible MHPSS needs (affected areas, vulnerable categories…).
- Draft regular work reports in English for the supervisor and other departments (minutes of meetings, field trip reports, etc.).
- Translate documents and verbal exchanges during internal or external meetings if necessary (Russian / Uzbek to English and vice versa).
- Administrative duties, such as preparing and following up on MHPSS orders concerning ICRC internal logistic and administrative procedures, translation support, etc.
Desired profile and skills
- University degree in clinical psychology (minimum 3 years of university studies)
- 3 to 5 years of Clinical and/or psychosocial experience
- Proficient command of English in addition to Uzbek and Russian languages
- Teamwork and networking skills
- Digital literacy

You are strongly motivated by humanitarian work, with a capacity to engage, persuade and influence others. This role requires emotional intelligence and effective communication and listening skills.
You are an open-minded and adaptable person with the ability to interact collaboratively in a multicultural team. As part of the role, you would also need to regularly conduct field trips/overnight stays outside of Tashkent and occasionally travel elsewhere.
