What We Do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Your role
As a Hospital Administrator, you are responsible for managing all non-clinical departments in the ICRC supported hospital. You are part of the hospital management team and you work closely and under the supervision of the Hospital Project Manager. You are managing human and financial resources, consumables & equipment related to the hospital activities. You ensure proper administrative organization within the hospital and make certain that the required resources are available and used in the best possible way as per ICRC institutional guidance and protocols. You contribute to establishing plans of action, implementing them and monitoring the results.
Main Responsibilities
Finance and administration
- Ensures accurate financial and administrative follow-up according to ICRC standards
- Collects and analyses data to ensure proper reporting and take corrective measures when required for proper project implementation
- Contributes to the annual project planning process
- Ensures the compliance and respect of the ICRC administrative procedures of the hospital team
HR management
- Leads and manages the ICRC resident hospital team in cooperation with the ICRC HR Manager
- Recruits and hires resident staff according to national labour laws and procedures
- Produces job descriptions and appraises the resident hospital team staff
Logistic and stock management
- Manages all hospital supplies from ordering, stock management and dispensing
- Coordinates equipment and infrastructures functioning, including proper maintenance systems in collaboration with the relevant specialists
- Ensures the daily delivery of quality support services
Education And Experience Required
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
- Degree in hospital/health structure management & administration
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in hospital management & administration
- Solid experience in hospital administration, including finance, HR and supply chain and stock management
- Fluency in English (min B2 level)
- Fluency in another language of ICRC interest: French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and or Portuguese
- Previous experience in international humanitarian experience and/or development experience in low-resource setting (NGO's, IO or charity organization)
- Previous experience within the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement is an asset
- Computer proficiency

Our operational context
- In line with the principle of neutrality, the ICRC dœs not assign personnel to a country of which they are nationals
- Our field staff members must be in good health and will have to do a medical check-up prior to departure in the field
- Our field staff members are prepared to accept unaccompanied postings (i.e. no spouse, partner, children or dependents) for at least the first 24 months
- In line with our security guidelines, our staff members must hold a manual driving license
