About the Job **
The Security and Safety Officer advises the delegation or site on security risk assessment and associated mitigating measures while ensuring proper dissemination and access to information related to security in line with Duty of Care obligations. Oversees the roll out of the SAFE training to the field staff.
This is a national/resident position based in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports sub-structures management in evaluating the security risks and the efficiency of the security measures put in place
- Monitors and supports the implementation of the plans of action and Minimum-Security Requirements at sub-structure level
- Ensures the effective implementation of security procedures and processes at field level
- Ensures adherence to the security rules during field trips with the teams
- Works closely with the Premises Maintenance Officer on the implementation of the Road Map process (security of the offices and antennas)
- Coordinates the security drills at the sub-structures level and drafts lesson learnt report to improve staff awareness and the security setup
- Facilitates Safety Awareness and Field Experience (SAFE1& 2) courses for all staff with support of the SAFE Trainer and Coordinator as per the annual training plan
- Participates in the annual meeting of Training Relays and monthly SAFE Training Relay meetings
- Ensures all arrangements (administrative, logistics, coordination with colleagues) are in place for SAFE courses, in coordination with the Learning and Development (LnD), SAFE Course Administrator and the delegation’s HR department
- Provides HR department and LnD with complete information on participants’ details, progress, and level of engagement for SAFE 1 & 2
- Contributes to reporting on SAFE 1 & 2 courses
Minimum qualifications and required competencies
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, or equivalent qualification in related field of study
· Specialized Security training
· 5 years’ experience in security and crisis management in the field
· Detail-oriented, highly organised and practices strict adherence to timelines
· Excellent analysis, planning and reporting skills
· Strong Training and facilitation skills
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali language
· Computer proficiency especially in MS office suite
· Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively in Somalia
· Good knowledge of political, economic, social and cultural environment of this region
