Objective:
The ICRC's Economic Security (EcoSec) Department, which is part of the Assistance Division, seeks to establish if people affected by different armed conflicts and other situations of violence can cover their essential needs sustainably. If they cannot do so, Economic Security (EcoSec) steps in to help protect lives and restore livelihoods.
Based on the skills required for this position, he or she must have the capacity to work with a degree of autonomy and independency and contribute to planning and coordinating EcoSec activities at the field level.
General duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Economic Security (EcoSec) Delegate, the Economic Security Generalist 2 carries out field and office work related to implementing and monitoring the ICRC’s EcoSec programme in Mosul Sub-Delegation. Specifically, he/she contributes to the relief and livelihoods support programs (micro-economic initiative (MEI), agro, and livestock).
Main duties and responsibilities:
1) Support to the Micro-Economic Initiative Program :
Works independently in the preparation and implementation of each step of the project cycle including:
· Presents and disseminates the micro-economic initiative program to target communities.
· Answers beneficiary questions and provides guidance when completing the application forms and business plans, including giving feedback on approved/rejected applications.
· Provides basic business skills training and other follow-up support to selected beneficiaries, as needed
· Contributes to the monitoring of the micro-economic initiative program, including providing basic written feedback on a regular basis, maintaining an accurate micro-economic initiative database, etc.
2) Support to Relief Programme:
Works independently in the preparation and implementation of both cash and in-kind relief programs:
· Is able to lead community needs assessments by engaging with stakeholders and beneficiaries.
· Understands the logic of vulnerability targeting and communicates this clearly to local authorities and beneficiaries.
· Prepares first draft of assessment reports and project proposals containing all necessary information.
3) Support to Livelihood Support Programme (Agro and Livestock):
Supports the preparation and implementation of each step of the project cycle including:
· Understands the livelihood support programme criteria and the seasonal calendar in Iraq
· Supports community needs assessments by engaging with stakeholders and beneficiaries.
· Contributes to present and disseminate the livelihood support programme to target communities.
· Answers beneficiary questions and provides guidance and feedback on approved/rejected applications.
· Prepares the first draft of needs assessment reports.
Education and Professional Experience required:
· University degree or professional diploma in humanitarian organizations in operational activities and management.**
· 1 - 3 years work experience in a microeconomic initiative, livelihoods, and cash-based transfer or similar fields.**
· Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic. Knowledge of Kurdish is an asset.**
· Good computer skills, particularly with MS Excel and managing large databases.**
· Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment**
