The Senior Protection Field Officer will contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of ICRC Protection activities in the ICRC Zamboanga Office area of responsibility (AoR) in line with the Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi (ZAMBaSulTa) strategy. S/he will be in charge of protection activities and follow-ups in the Zamboanga Peninsula. In addition, s/he will supervise the work of the two Protection Field Officers covering BaSulTa.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, implements, and reports on protection activities, including some with complete autonomy
- Drafts analyses of the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the ICRC, share relevant information with colleagues and reports any change in the situation
- Contributes to the design and the implementation of activities while making efforts to promote a multidisciplinary approach. This would include stakeholder mapping in priority areas
- Collects, compiles, and interprets protection-related information, and prepares written reports
- Plans, organizes, and reports on internal and external meetings, some with autonomy
- Develops, maintains, and organizes contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers, etc.
- Ensures the sustainability of his/her work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory
- Provides briefings and technical support to staff involved in protection activities in Zamboanga (ZAM) AoR.
- Supervises the work of the two protection field officers in charge of protection activities in BaSulTa AoR.
- Ensures proper procedures of information management and data protection.
REQUIRED PROFILE
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- At least 3-5 years in a similar field of activities
- Fluency in written and spoken English, Yakan, Tausug, and Chavacano
- Skills for planning, organization, assessment, and program implementation
- Proficiency in MS Office software (Word and Excel)
- Knowledgeable in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is an asset
- High level of negotiation and social skills
- Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and with autonomy in a multidisciplinary approach
- Awareness and respect of professional and institutional ethics.
