Somalia: WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR (MOGADISHU) - SOMALI NATIONALS ONLY

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC's Somalia Delegation in Nairobi implements the institution's humanitarian activities in Somalia.

WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR - MOGADISHU

The warehouse supervisor (Somalia-based resident/national position), will be responsible for supervising warehouse staff and providing materials, equipment, and supplies by directing, receiving, warehousing and carrying out distribution services. He/She will perform the following duties:

Main Responsibilities:

· Guarantees permanent availability of stock in the relief, admin, medical and dispatch warehouses;

· Maintains quality control of goods received and stored in the warehouse as well as the turnover;

· Maintains warehouse stock and ensures preventive measures are put in place and executed;

· Ensures proper registration and treatment of goods as per their custom status, expiry date, serial number and manufacturer specifications;

· Defines proper order preparation and planning with the entire supply chain;

· Ensures receipt and proper treatment of the cargo manifest, related documentation, permits and licences at the dispatch warehouse and for export;

· Organises for inventory and ensures appropriate reaction emanating from emergency reports;

· Knows, applies and complies with all the administrative procedures linked to his work (Financial and HR);

· Keeps files up-to-date at all times;

· Supervises and ensures the deployment and development of all warehouse staff;

· Briefs and trains newly employed warehouse staff;

· Translates documents from English to the National language and vice versa as required;

· Maintains regular contacts with Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and with other interlocutors (NGO's, associations, among others) and exchanges information as required;

· Reports events and changes within the region that could have an impact on ICRC's activities.

Minimum Requirements:

· Minimum bachelor’s degree in purchasing and supplies, social sciences or recognized equivalent;

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar field;

· Demonstrate knowledge and experience in inventory planning and good control techniques;

· Experience with medical stock management;

· Very good analytical and negotiation skills;

· Good command of written and spoken English;

· Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office Suite.
