The Health Field Officer visits selected places of detention and assess health care services available to people deprived of liberty (PDL) and the determinants of health. Prioritizes major health concerns and implements programs to improve the health status and thereby the living conditions of PDL in selected places of detention.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in analysis and reflection on the overall health situation in places of detention, contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation’s objectives and priorities.
- Provides technical support to health care providers in places of detention.
- Liaises and builds networks with national stakeholders specifically health and detention authorities to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of health programs.
- Organizes and facilitates activities for advocacy, dialogue, and mobilization.
- Serves as focal contact for detention health systems strengthening interventions.
REQUIRED PROFILE
- University degree in medicine or nursing or public health with a professional license to practice in the country.
- Post graduate degree in public health, global health, or related field is an advantage.
- 2 years’ work experience and familiarity in public health project implementation in the country.
- Knowledge and experience in health systems strengthening programs with a focus on the health building blocks.
- Minimum working knowledge on health research, data analysis, and policy drafting and writing.
- Experience in organizing workshops, courses, training, and seminars.
- Experience in health care service provision in places of detention and interacting with detention and health authorities.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Filipino.
