Purpose:
The Protection of Family Links (PFL) Officer 2 supports the implementation and monitoring of ICRC protection of family links activities.
Functional Responsibilities:
The PFL Field Officer Implements RFL activities under the supervision of the line manager and runs specific projects/programmes focusing supporting families of missing migrants, according to the caseload and the priorities of the service. When required, s/he helps represent the ICRC towards external interlocutors with translation and reporting, as well as in fora relevant to his/her responsibilities and tasks. The selected candidate may be expected to travel in Greece to support the activities of the unit.
Main operational responsibilities:
l Carries out Protection of Family Links activities under the supervision of the line manager
l Contributes to analyses of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political members and reports any changes in the situation
l Monitors the migration routes to and from Greece and records/maintains this data as requested (e.g. incident reports);
l Analyses data and contributes to written internal reports, assists in institutional exercises relating to planning, budgeting and monitoring programs
l Helps to prepare, report on and follow-up on internal and external meetings
l Prepares, participates in and reports on all aspects of field visits
l Attention to beneficiaries
l Maintains an active dialogue with the ICRC Forensic Unit in Athens, others ICRC Delegations and National Societies on cases of deceased migrants and follow-up, including compilation of lists of missing, quality control, and statistical information to be shared with the movement;
l Under supervision of Head of Unit, supports the implementation of internal working procedures and mechanisms
l Contributes to discussions on relating to missing migrants within the different contexts and provide expert advice on policy proposals and texts;
l Under supervision of PFL Delegate, support ICRC’s dialogue with external stakeholders on issues related to humanitarian action relating to missing migrants on the migratory route towards Greece;
l Participation in relevant meetings and interpreting when needed
l Carries out administrative and logistical duties to support the team in organizational matters;
l The PFL Field Officer may be required to travel occasionally to assist families or the PFL team in operational matters relating the missing file.
Other:
l Organizes the sustainability and the institutional filing of her work, which includes maintaining individual files and keeping them updated as per the internal procedures put in place
l Participates in delegation working meetings
l Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
l Performs duties and tasks not covered in this job description and provide support to other departments when necessary
