About the Job
The Risk Management Unit (RMU) Officer will contribute to the transparency and accountability agenda and will influence the planning and reviewing of risk management strategies within the Somalia Delegation. Under the guidance of the Senior Risk Management Unit (SRMUO), he/she will contribute to the process of risk identification and mitigation through implementation of field monitoring activities. Directly supervises one Administrative Assistant and coordinates the work of external consultants.
This is a resident/national position based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia.
Main Responsibilities
· Contributes to the prioritization of field assignments in coordination with the Senior RMU Officer
· Develops Terms of Reference (ToR) for consultants for implementing field monitoring activities
· Implements and follows up monitoring assignments with external consultants
· Formulates appropriate data collection tools for assessments
· Reviews consultancy reports to ensure quality
· Prepares monthly and quarterly statistics on field monitoring activities
· Processes contractual documents for each consultant and facilitates their payments
· Recruits consultants and reviews their performance
· Develops and maintains contact with consultants and research and training service providers
· Supervises and evaluates work performance for the direct report and external consultants
· Documents reports and ToRs in digital workspace
Minimum qualifications and required competencies
· Degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Development economics, Economics, or relevant qualification in a related field
· Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in programme or project management, M&E, risk management, compliance and/or audit
· Understanding of practicalities and sensitivities involved in implementing emergency assistance and developmental projects in remote areas of Somalia
· Proficient knowledge and skills in project cycle management
· Good report writing skills
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Somali language
· Sound knowledge of the humanitarian, political, social and cultural context of Somalia
· Possessing a strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information
