It has been providing humanitarian aid in the Philippines for more than 70 years, with a permanent presence since 1982. The ICRC works closely with the Philippine Red Cross, its primary partner in the country.

Join the Health team of an international humanitarian organization. The ICRC Mindanao sub-delegation is looking for a:

Health Field Officer

(Based in Davao)

The Health Field Officer contributes to implementing, running, and monitoring the health activities under the Health delegate’s supervision and in cooperation with the health team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation's annual planning (Planning for Results) for all Mindanao areas of responsibility. Based on the skills required for this position, s/he has the capacity to manage/oversee programs with autonomy and contributes actively to planning, coordinating and supervising health activities and Health Field Officers at the sub-delegation and offices level which requires regular trips to the field.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Supports the Health Delegate in the oversight of the planning, implementation, and monitoring of ICRC health activities in Mindanao and ensures coherence of all actions with the elements: Health Care in Danger (HCiD), Mental Health and Psycho Social Support (MHPSS), Sexual Violence (VP), Person with Disability (PWD), community based protection activities

  • Acts as the focal point in the sub-delegation for Health Care in Danger (HCiD), health networking with stakeholders and all health mapping exercises

  • Collects, organizes and analyzes all information related to health situations / activities and general context

  • Manages the Mindanao health team under the supervision of the Health Delegate

  • Manages institutional reporting and statistics together with the Health Delegate

REQUIRED PROFILE:

A successful candidate will have:

  • A university degree in the health sector or equivalent (nursing, medicine)

  • 3 to 5 years’ work experience (including 2 years of clinical experience) with minimum 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector

  • Good knowledge and understanding of public health and local health services and systems

  • Experience as a first aid trainer

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Tagalog, Visayan, Maranao and Maguindanaon

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good analytical skills

  • Good communication skills

As an asset, a successful candidate may have:

  • Experience in working with the administration of health and medical structures in the Philippines

  • Experience in carrying out First Aid training

  • Good interpersonal skills and a good network with local health authorities

  • Awareness and respect of professional and institutional ethics, particularly with respect to confidentiality

  • Knowledge of the assigned geographic area
